Getting Your SACMI Rotary Blow Molding Lamps to Actually Keep Up
When you’re running a SACMI rotary machine, things move fast. Like, really fast. Your preforms are flying through that heating oven in a matter of seconds. If your IR lamps are sluggish or the heat is bouncing around, you’re going to see it in the final product. You’ll get those annoying uneven walls in your PET bottles that make the whole batch look off. We built our replacement lamps specifically to stop that from happening.
The secret to the speed
To keep up with a high-speed SACMI line, you can’t just use any bulb. It comes down to how the filament handles heat and voltage. We use high-wattage shortwave IR tech. Why? Because it hits the target temperature almost instantly. We’ve also toughened these tubes up so they can handle constant, rapid switching without burning out a week later. Here’s the thing: if your voltage dips or the lamp is too small for the job, the PET preform won’t get hot enough before it hits the blow mold. That’s how you end up with “cold spots” and bottles that just fail.
No headaches during install
We don’t want you spending your weekend modifying your machine. These are simple drop-in replacements. We use standard industrial connectors, so you just wire them up and get back to work. Under the hood, we use heavy-duty quartz glass and a special halogen gas fill. This keeps the filament from evaporating too quickly, which means the lamps actually last. Plus, we added a coating to the quartz that pushes the heat inward toward the preform. It stops the oven walls from soaking up all that expensive energy.
A quick word of caution
High heat density is great, but it’s a bit of a trade-off. A 2500W tube gives you the punch you need for those fast cycles, but it’s a heavy lift for your power supply and cooling fans. If your cooling system is struggling to handle the heat from a full bank of these lamps, you’ll notice the end caps overheating. And when that happens, your lamp life takes a dive. Keep your fans humming, and these lamps will take care of the rest.
