Inside, there’s a tungsten filament wrapped in a halogen-filled envelope. The halogen acts like a recycling system, pushing evaporated tungsten back onto the filament. This keeps the heat steady and stops the bulb from burning out too quickly. A few things to keep in mind If you’re installing these, stick to moisture-resistant connectors in the ceiling grid. Also, double-check your housing. These things get incredibly hot, and if the fixture isn’t rated for the wattage, you’ll end up melting your plastic mounts. There is one tiny trade-off. Because of that protective sleeve, you lose a little bit of the raw infrared punch compared to a bare tube. But honestly?
